Rojo Workflow & Version Control

Tooling

Using Rojo to sync R Anti-Cheat from Git and filesystem directly into Roblox Studio.

# Overview

For teams using version control (Git, GitHub, GitLab) and external code editors (VS Code, Cursor, Antigravity IDE), Rojo allows you to edit RAC source code on disk and have it live-synced into Roblox Studio.

# Default Project Configuration (default.project.json)

Here is the standard default.project.json for syncing RAC into an existing experience:

{
  "name": "R-Anti-Cheat",
  "tree": {
    "$className": "DataModel",
    "ReplicatedStorage": {
      "RAC": {
        "$path": "src/ReplicatedStorage/RAC"
      }
    },
    "ServerScriptService": {
      "RAC": {
        "$path": "src/ServerScriptService/RAC"
      }
    },
    "StarterPlayer": {
      "StarterPlayerScripts": {
        "RAC": {
          "$path": "src/StarterPlayer/StarterPlayerScripts/RAC"
        }
      }
    }
  }
}

# Starting the Rojo Sync Server

  1. Open a terminal in the root directory of your project.
  2. Start the Rojo sync server:
rojo serve
  1. You should see output indicating that the server is listening:
[INFO] Listening on 127.0.0.1:34872
[INFO] Ready to serve project!

# Connecting in Roblox Studio

  1. Open your place in Roblox Studio.
  2. Open the Rojo plugin from the Plugins tab.
  3. Verify the address is localhost:34872 and click Connect.
  4. The RAC files will immediately sync into ReplicatedStorage, ServerScriptService, and StarterPlayerScripts.

# Building a Standalone Place (.rbxl)

To build a complete place file from the command line for automated testing or CI/CD pipelines:

rojo build -o RAC_Production.rbxl

This generates a deployable .rbxl file containing all server scripts, client components, and configuration modules ready for Roblox publishing.
